The sitemap.xml & Google

One of the fastest way I use to tell Google that my website contains updated pages is the re-submission of the sitemap.xml. In five cases I noticed that it crowled my website within few hours.   Just follow these steps:

  1. go to www.xml-sitemaps.com (or whatever site you use to generate a sitemap – you can even write it by yourself!) and fill in the form with your website name;
  2. download the sitemap.xml file and upoload it to your server;
  3. browse to your Google account page and enter the ‘webmasters tools’;
  4. resubmit your sitemap.xml

If you are lucky the big G. will crowl your website within few hours updating its records with new pages.

I’d like to hear from you: have you ever had similar experiences? What kind of method you use to make your website high-frequency crawled?
